Listen to the World is a music project for schools and community groups. The project can be run via computer, developing ITC skills, or with physical objects.
Small teams of 6 to 8 people have to work together.
Each team will be given 8 pictures of musical instruments from around the world. They will also be given 8 sound files and 8 images/maps according to the workshop presentation.
The task is to identify the sound and location associated with each instrument.
Next, students will be given a chance to hear the difference between families of instruments such things you breath into, things to bang on, things you pluck etc.
Then students will be given the task of identifying instruments without visual aids.
The workshop is flexible according to the needs of the workshop commissioners.
We would hope to be able to get professional players of world music instruments involved.
